He was a mammoth of of a canine, and he most certainly knew it. Muscles pulled and released as he stepped confidently through his new territory, terracotta eyes familiarizing themselves with their new home.
It had been only yesterday that the turquoise male claimed this forest as his own, founding the Cordox pack in the process, and it was still rather new to him. After having wandered for almost a year, searching for a pack to take in himself and his children, he had finally given up, deciding that the only reasonable course of action remaining was to create such a pack himself.
He paused for a moment as he thought of his children, a wistful smile passing across his masked face. Oh, how he missed them! Regulus, Aquilla, Sadira, Vega, Atlas, Kraz and Maia. He sighed, praying that they would indeed follow as all six present had promised to at least consider doing. He could understand why some of them might not want to leave their old home, but the very thing that kept them there was the thing that drove their father away! He couldn't continue to live with such ever-present reminders of his ex-mate. He just couldn't.
Snorting, he shook his great head and began to pad through the trees once more. This place will be quite the home, he mused silently as he moved, watching the soft form of the ivory rabbit that darted out in front of his paws. He was not hungry, and so left it be. This was not a time for hunting.

This made no difference to the male, however, as he took long strides past the various weeping willow trees. Stealth was currently not one of his concerns. He had much more important matters to attend to.
Regulus had set out on the trail of his father almost immediately. He'd given the older male a day's head start, as per his father wishes. Being left behind had never been his intention though, and thus as soon as he was sure the distance between himself and Impact was great enough he too had left his family's home. The others would follow at their own pace most likely; he wouldn't have left them behind if he wasn't sure of it. Unfortunately, his many siblings were moving just a tad too slow for his restless nature.
Pausing only every so often to make sure he hadn't lost his father's trail, the male's pace gradually began to slow. He knew he had to be getting close. Impact's scent seemed to be everywhere now. Did that mean he had claimed this land? Was his father starting a pack? A snort flared his nares. Wouldn't that be the kicker. Mister I can no longer live with the memory of my dead mate had run off to play alpha. How quaint.
Reggie rounded another tree, changing course slightly. He had to be close now. His father's scent was at its strongest now. Not much further... Spying a large turquoise figure just up ahead, he couldn't keep the proud smirk off of his face. Mission success! Now to figure out a way to get his attention. Clearing his throat, hard eyes lingered on the form of Impact as he spoke one single word. "Father."

Turning, the large male instantly spotted the speaker, and burnt sienna eyes fell upon a sharp pair of almost the exact same shade. At first, he froze in surprise, and then his face broke out into a smile.
"Regulus!" He cried, trotting over to greet his son with a lick to the side of his face. Talk about speak of the devil! "You arrived a lot quicker than I expected, I've only been here a day, myself." Sitting down before the other, the turquoise wolf took in his son's appearance. Having not seen him for near enough a year now, it was evident that the boy had grown, and now held the body of an adult. It was clear that he would never reach his father's size, but that certainly did not make him small. Impact noticed that he looked a little unkempt, likely thanks to the steady travel, but other than that he appeared healthy.
The larger male felt something inside him settle a little as he looked his son over, and found him well. He still felt the absence of the other children keenly, of course, but that could not drown out the pleasure of seeing his eldest son once again. "How are you?" He asked.

Regulus was a gown wolf now, and adult, and such displays by his father made him feel like a pup again. He was too big for daddy's kisses now, even if deep down he really was pleased by such a warm greeting.
Briefly he nuzzled his nose against Impact's neck before retreating to take his own seat. His entire body seemed as if it sighed in relief at finally being allowed a moments rest. The male had spent so much of his time on the move that he'd rarely given himself pause for leisure. He had only allowed stops for hunting and sleeping (and of course chatting up every pretty female that happened to cross his path, but even those were short liaisons that barely hindered his travels. A hind leg rose to scratch at the back of his ear. Maybe now that he was here he could finally find time for a bath.
At his father's comment he could only smirk smugly, brow rising slyly as he rolled his shoulders a bit in a stretch. Regulus always loved going above and beyond the expectations of others. He held himself to very high standards; if he didn't he would never realize his full potential. "I've been well. My trip's been a rather... interesting one. Very different from being at home, within the safety of a pack." He paused for a moment, eying Impact with a scrutinizing gaze. Had it really been almost a year since they'd seen each other last? Then, "How about you, Father? How have you been?"

Perhaps his pleasure at seeing his eldest son again was making him less observant than usual. Regardless, he smiled at the brief nuzzle and retreat, moving back a step and sitting down himself. Still smiling a little, the turquoise wolf watched as his son made himself comfortable, calmly now.
I recognise that look, Imp thought, amused, as Regulus smirked. Even if it's been a while since I've seen it, I'd recognise that look any day! He was most likely proud of himself, and smug that he'd been so prompt. Impact resisted the urge to roll his eyes fondly, it was just the way the white-marked wolf was, and a roll of the eyes would likely just antagonise him. Not something the larger male was aiming for, so close to being reunited!
"I've been well. My trip's been a rather... interesting one. Very different from being at home, within the safety of a pack."
"I'd ask if you got along alright," the older wolf began, nodding in reply. "But it would be a stupid question, and I'm sure not an appreciated one." A smirk of his own followed this. "So instead I ask, did much of interest occur along the way?"
He inclined his head a little at the return of the question. "Me?" He asked, in joking surprise. "Pah! I'm indestructible, me." He had to bite back the "kiddo" that wanted to role from his tongue at the end of the sentence. It was clear that Regulus was far too old to be called a child any longer, but that didn't mean he wouldn't always be his child. Perhaps it was not wise to bring that up, however!
"But yes," he continued, dropping the joking manner. "I've been as well as can be expected. The search for a pack did not go as hoped. Each one I approached on the way here was unwilling to take on such a large family." A flash of anger sparked in sienna eyes at this. "So I was forced to found one for us. It's not the most favourable of situations, but I'm sure we can make do." For a moment, he paused, clearly thinking. "I'm sorry, son," he said, frowning a little. "That made it sound as though I was expecting you to just go along with this. You are, of course, free to join the pack, and I wholeheartedly hope you do, but I won't begrudge you your freedom, if that is what you want."
