Impact had spent the day fretting over his children, pacing around his new pack lands agitatedly, wondering when - or even if - they would turn up. Sure, it wasn't as though they had kept him waiting a long time so far, in fact, he'd only been here for less than a day! But still, the little seed of worry was lodged firmly in his mind and showed no signs of leaving.
So it had been that the large turquoise wolf eventually wandered away from his new borders and ventured out of the forest. Perhaps a change of scenery would help. And it seemed as though it had! It had only been a short walk to the meadow, and almost as soon as he had entered the place, a strange calm had settled over the male. He'd relaxed instantly, and let out a sigh as his body began to unwind.
It had taken a moment or two for Impact to realise that this was not a wholly normal way to be feeling, all of a sudden, and he looked up once more, scanning the meadow with sharp sienna eyes. It certainly looked harmless enough, and he could detect nothing amiss. Shrugging off his confusion, the large wolf decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth and sat down, head tilting upwards to watch the clouds drift through the sky.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,489,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][bg=000000] Everything was calm.
The soothing serenity was washing over him in waves, making him feel oddly dizzy. His heart felt like it was slowing down, beating at a steady and calm rate, and it felt to him as if it had been turned to glass - smooth, but tense and fragile at the same time. It felt blank. Like the rough edges of it had been smoothed by the sea.
Nos shook his head furiously to try to clear his head. When the tranquil feeling did not leave him, he sighed in resignation and slipped further into the meadow. There were worse things than calm that a field could make you feel. He might as well take advantage of this peace while it lasted. Sure, it could be a design to lure him in unawares, but he needed a bit of relief from life.
Taking a breath of the clear air, the dark wolf gazed around the meadow with mismatched eyes. His paws, coloured with soft blues and yellow-greens, trod wearily on the soft grass. Ah, peace at last.
Just then, Nos caught a slight movement out of the corner of his eye. Turning, he thought he had just imagined it. He took another breath to be sure - no, there was definitely a wolf-scent here. Now he could make out a form. The other wolf's fur was a teal colour, almost blending with the grass, but not quite. Close enough to be overlooked.
Knowing that he wasn't exactly the correct colour to blend in with the vibrant greens of the field, the black male decided to take a direct approach and speak with this wolf. He trotted forward, slow enough to be taken as a harmless advance, yet fast enough to cover ground quickly. If he was to be seen now, he didn't want to waste time on getting to the other wolf.
Pausing a few tail-lengths ahead of the teal stranger, Nos dipped his head slightly in greeting. Looking at the other wolf gave him an eerie sense of déjà vu. Another meadow with a drug-like effect on one's senses, another male standing before him, another chapter of his life. Shaking himself from the past, Nos blinked and studied the reality before him. Too late to run away now. "Ah... hello. My name is Noson Leuad." Eh, an idiotic introduction. No wonder he preferred not to open his mouth in the first place. Sitting down lightly, the dark wolf lowered his blue-and-green tipped tail to the ground, hopefully submissive - he didn't want it to end up that he had been trespassing and acted disrespectfully. Which, with his luck, was probably the case. He could be so glamorously stupid at times.

Curious, he cocked his head and stood to greet the stranger.
"Ah... hello. My name is Noson Leuad."
The larger male smiled in response and inclined his head a little in greeting, wondering silently over the dark wolf's peculiar markings. Dark, apparently black fur covered most of the newcomer's body, while pale blue and yellow picked out certain points, highlighting them. They were certainly striking, as were the matching eyes.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Noson," he replied, sinking back down into a sitting position at the same time as the other wolf did. "I'm Impact." He took in the slightly submissive posture with interest - did he already hold himself like an Alpha? How odd.
After a moment, Impact allowed burnt orange eyes to drift away from the dark form, surveying the meadow once more. "Odd place this, isn't it?" He spoke, hoping it was not just him that the meadow seemed to be affecting.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,489,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][bg=000000] Nos let out a short sigh of relief as the other wolf sat. So, he wasn't trespassing onto a territorial pack's lands. Either that, or this male wasn't worried about a stranger crossing into his home due to the fact that the meadow was probably making them both a bit passive. The black wolf tried to remember if he had caught scent of any border markers. He couldn't recall any, but then again, his sense of judgement felt a little odd with the soothing effects of this area.
"I'm Impact," the blue-green wolf stated. His rich orange eyes contrasted startlingly with his pelt as they drifted to stare at the meadow they were in. Nos turned his gaze to the rolling expanse of grass as well, studying the seemingly normal scenery. If it's so usual, then, what's causing this complete sense of calm?
The other male seemed to read his mind. "Odd place this, isn't it?" he said, his voice shaking Nos out of his reverie. The black wolf flicked his bushy tail in agreement.
"Yes, it is. I've not known a peace like this," he replied softly. No, nothing that had instilled this sense of serenity in him, not like this. After all, how many meadows around here made you calm when you stumbled into them?

Apparently sitting down had been the right move. As he looked away, at the land around them, he felt the other wolf's eyes leave him, presumably to do the same. His gaze flicked back to the dark wolf as he replied.
"Yes, it is. I've not known a peace like this."
Impact nodded slowly. "Nor have I," he started, frowning a little. "And I've been around a while!" This last was spoken with a grin, before he fell serious again. "I'm glad I'm not the only one to feel it."
Shaking his head as though attempting to shake away the slight concern that this unfamiliar place dredged up, the blue-green male smiled at Noson Leuad. "So, are you new around here then?" He asked, cocking his head to the right, before sniffing the air. "A loner, right?" Perhaps the stranger would be interested in joining a pack? It was worth investigating, at least.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,489,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][bg=000000] Nos half-smiled at the other wolf's - what was his name again? Oh, right, Impact's - little joke, letting it flicker across his features. The soothing aura of the land made him too passive to laugh yet had a consistent pull on the corners of his mouth. Then he nodded, understandingly, at the statement that followed. He wouldn't like to be the only one feeling this, either. Though he supposed it wouldn't have worried him, considering this meadow was soothing his fears.
Which was why Nos didn't feel defensive when the blue-green male asked, "So, are you new around here then?" Impact seemed to sniff the air slightly, and the dark wolf imagined that he would smell the sea, or the northern wind, or the sweet flowers near his former pack. Probably not, as he had been traveling for a while. "A loner, right?"
"Yes," Noson replied with a slight dip of his head. He curled his tail languidly around his blue and yellow-green forepaws as his odd eyes seemed to lose their focus. They were looking at other things. Moments of the past. "I... come from the north," he began slowly. This peacefulness was making him dull. Trying to shake off the fog of both the meadow and his memories, Nos spoke clearly. "I've been wandering south-east for quite a while now, searching for a pack. Roaming the land on my own won't do me much good." He gave another slight smile. Perhaps this would be a repeat of before, though with better luck. Perhaps this teal wolf could offer him a home. Still, he didn't want to get his hopes up too soon.

He cocked his head to the side as the other wolf's eyes grew distant, and it seemed as though he was lost in some memory of the past. He nodded once to confirm that he'd heard the comment of him coming from the North, though did not speak. It didn't look as though Noson was finished speaking, and he didn't want to interrupt what was obviously a sensitive subject somehow.
"I've been wandering south-east for quite a while now, searching for a pack. Roaming the land on my own won't do me much good."
This next was clearer, and the mismatched eyes looked more alert now. Impact tilted an ear and a smile split his face at the words. "You're searching for a pack?" He asked, tail swiping a smooth arc through the air as he sat up a little straighter. "Then you've certainly met the right wolf! I'm the Alpha of the Cordox pack. We reside in Whisper Forest." He paused for a moment, tilting his head to the left, terracotta eyes warm. "I'd be happy to show you around if you'd like to consider joining us?"
Whilst he spoke, he looked Noson Leuad over once more, this time assessing his strengths. He looked to be a fairly well-rounded wolf, that would fit in any of a number of duties. Imp supposed it would boil down to asking the dark male which he would prefer, should he chose to join them.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,489,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][bg=000000] The blue-green male's body seemed to perk up as Nos explained his situation, a grin sliding across his face. The northerner didn't understand the reaction until Impact explained his alpha status in the Cordox pack, apparently located in a place called the Whispering Forest. Feeling like a foreigner, Nos tilted his head slightly to the left, trying to look like he had heard of the woods. Of course, he hadn't. He'd only been in the east for a short period of time.
Then Impact said, "I'd be happy to show you around if you'd like to consider joining us?" Smiling lightly at the invitation, the dark male flicked his tail cheerfully. "It'd be much appreciated," he said gratefully. He wasn't sure if it was just the meadow's lulling quality or the warmth in Impact's sienna eyes, but Nos felt like he could trust this teal alpha. He might as well take this opportunity to get to know the land better, as it may be a future home. "I'll keep your offer in mind," he added with a respectful dip of his head. "I'd love to join, but I don't want to make a hasty decision at this moment. You understand." The black wolf peered up at the other in a way that, he hoped, conveyed his sincerity. It was true that the thought of a home was very appealing, but he merely wanted to get to know this stranger a bit better first. Surely Impact would study Nos's behavior as well, on this tour, before accepting the northerner officially into the pack.
